Job Title: Commercial Tailor
Location: Bedford, NS
Shift/Hours: Monday to Friday
Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
The Commercial Tailor will be responsible for constructing, altering, repairing, and finishing uniforms, coats, specialty garments, and other commercial apparel. This role supports the production of high-quality uniforms and apparel for emergency services, public safety professionals, and commercial clients across Canada.
This position requires someone with strong attention to detail, experience using industrial sewing machines, and the ability to produce accurate, durable, and professional-quality garments in a production environment.
Responsibilities:
- Construct, alter, and repair uniforms, coats, specialty garments, and other commercial apparel
- Read and interpret technical specifications, measurements, and garment patterns
- Operate industrial sewing machines and use hand-finishing techniques as required
- Complete alterations and fittings to ensure garments meet customer specifications
- Inspect finished garments to ensure quality standards are met
- Maintain consistent quality, durability, and attention to detail throughout production
- Collaborate with production staff to meet deadlines and production schedules
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow company standards, production procedures, and workplace safety requirements
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Commercial Tailor, Industrial Sewing Machine Operator, or in a similar garment production role
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, alterations, and finishing techniques
- Experience using industrial sewing machines and commercial tailoring equipment
- Able to read patterns, technical drawings, and garment specifications
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Formal tailoring, sewing, or garment technology training considered an asset
- Reliable, punctual, and quality-focused
