About the Role

We are currently looking for a permanent, full time EHR Informatics Coordinator to join our team.
Reporting to the Program Manager, Pharmacy Network, the EHR Informatics Coordinator will
play a key role in ongoing operations, enabling continuous quality improvement, and managing
risk related to the Pharmacy Network, the provincial electronic outpatient prescription record.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide application and systems expertise, problem/incident resolution, change management, and user education for current and future Pharmacy Network projects and initiatives.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and consultation on provincial eHealth projects and
    initiatives to support the ongoing enhancement and expansion of the provincial EHR.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain provincial Pharmacy Network policies and guidelines.
    Consult with and support both NLHS and non-NLHS staff across all zones, clinicians, and
    management teams to ensure understanding and compliance with provincial Pharmacy
    Network policies and guidelines.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an ongoing continuous quality improvement
    processes.
  • Support, develop and maintain the provincial Data Warehouse
  • Develop and execute testing plans for Pharmacy Network system maintenance,
    enhancement, and expansion.
  • Monitor and resolve errors related to the processing of prescriptions and dispenses
    from source systems.
  • Support, develop, implement, and maintain related standards within provincial
    Pharmacy Network and conformant data sources.
  • Provide subject matter expertise with respect to terminology and CPhA messaging
    standards in the Pharmacy Network as well as for HEALTHeNL with primary focus on the
    medication profile domain.
  • Engage subject matter experts from Canada Health Infoway, CIHI and other jurisdictions
    to resolve identified gaps and ensure alignment with the pan-Canadian messages and
    terminologies.

About You

Your education and experience include:

  • A diploma or degree in a health or health information/informatics field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a progressively responsible health care
    environment role.


You have the following skills and abilities:

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in an organized manner.
  • Excellent written and presentation skills.
  • Ability to facilitate decision making and building consensus.
  • Considerable knowledge of health care delivery processes and practices.
  • Knowledge of a provincial health care system practices related to data such as
    medication profiles, encounters, laboratory results, medical imaging reports, clinical
    documents, and immunizations.
  • Knowledge of a provincial health care environment and familiarity with national EHR
    initiatives and standards is preferred.
  • It would be an asset if you have the following:
    • Experience with the various pharmacy PPMS options in NL.
    • HL7 (health level 7) training.

Demonstrated equivalencies may be considered.
