We invite you to join the Kings Landing team! Kings Landing's mission is to attract, engage, enrich, and educate the people of New Brunswick and visitors by showcasing the well-researched adaptation of people who lived along the St. John River Valley in the 19th century.
What you will do:
By joining the Kings Landing team, you will be part of bringing history to life! With approximately 140 employees working across 300 scenic acres and more than 70 historic buildings, Kings Landing offers a unique and rewarding work environment where every role contributes to creating memorable experiences for our visitors. We have several different student opportunities available:
Collections Assistant:
- Supporting an ongoing inventory and review project for nearly 100,000 artefacts
- Assisting with updating and maintaining accurate records
- Taking photos
- Conducting research on the items in our collections centre
Communications:
- Taking part in an exciting new project to help document historical crafts, trades, and practices for future generations
- Taking photos and video
- Interviewing staff
- Documenting step by step guides to ensure we can pass down these practices for future generations
Education:
- Helping our Counselors/Artisans oversee our Visiting Cousins and Family Kin overnight camps
- Assisting in providing historic interpretation for a new group of children every week
- Doing demonstrations of historical crafts and games
- Partaking in school lessons
Food Services:
- Working alongside our dedicated team at the King's Head Inn
- Seating guests
- Helping to serve large groups and preparing food
- Learning the ins and outs of working in a restaurant
Maintenance:
- Working outdoors
- Completing yard work and painting
- Assisting our talented team of professionals as they maintain and repair historic buildings
Sales and Service Attendant:
- Working at the Welcome Centre
- Greeting our visitors as they first arrive at Kings Landing
- Providing excellent customer service
- Offering recommendations
- Answering questions about our village
Village:
- Playing a given character in our bustling village
- Spending your days talking to our visitors about your daily life in the 19th century
- Assisting our farmhands in caring for animals
- Gardening
- Learning historical crafts
Wardrobe:
- Helping our Artisans craft and care for our massive inventory of period costumes
Who you are:
You are a curious and enthusiastic learner with a genuine interest in history and a passion for bringing the past to life. You enjoy engaging with people of all ages and backgrounds, and you're comfortable stepping into a role where storytelling, creativity, and strong communication skills are key. You are reliable, adaptable, and willing to take initiative, whether you're interpreting 19th-century daily life, assisting visitors, or supporting your team across a large outdoor site. You appreciate working both independently and collaboratively, and you take pride in creating welcoming, memorable experiences that connect visitors to the stories of the past.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Required Competencies:
- Must be currently enrolled as a student and be returning to school full-time in the fall
- Ability to work independently
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Some positions require written and spoken competence in French and English. Others will require written and spoken competence in English or in French only. Please state your language capability.
Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration. Please ensure that preferred language for assessment is identified on your resume.

Wage:
$15.90 - $19.18 per hour, based on GNB student rates of pay and years of education
Work environment:
- Office location: Kings Landing, Prince William, NB
- Standard Hours of work vary from role to role:
- Collections Assistant and Communications: Monday to Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM
- Education: Monday to Friday, varying shifts potentially including evenings
- Food Services: Monday to Sunday, varying shifts including some evenings
- Maintenance: Monday to Friday, 7:00AM-3:30PM
- Sales and Service Attendant, Village and Wardrobe: Monday to Sunday, all shifts typically between 9:00AM-5:30PM
- Working outdoors
- Some roles require period appropriate costume
