The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD) is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strengths in data analysis, compliance reporting, and accountability frameworks to join the Early Childhood Development Division as a Program Consultant for Accountability and Reporting.

Recognizing the critical importance of the early years, EECD continues to enhance quality, accessibility, inclusion, and affordability across the early learning and childcare sector to support children and families throughout New Brunswick.
What will you do:
The Accountability and Reporting Consultant is responsible for coordinating, drafting, and reviewing mandated reports, preparing briefing materials and responding to inquiries related to agreement targets, outcomes, performance indicators, expenditures and costing.
The successful candidate will validate financial and program data, including budgets and projections to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency across provincial programs and to meet federal accountability requirements under federal agreements. The position also supports audits and compliance reviews to identify risks, support evidence?based decision?making, and contribute to continuous improvement in data integrity, reporting practices, and program accountability.
This role allocates the majority of time to program consulting (federal and provincial report drafting, briefing notes on performance targets and costing, and liaison work supporting governance processes) and the remainder to supporting audit functions (financial and program data validation, audit support, and compliance or risk checks).
Your key responsibilities:
- Coordinate and draft federal and provincial accountability reports, ensuring compliance with reporting standards, timelines, and quality expectations.
- Validate data including budgets, costing, financial data, and program information to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with Canada?Wide Agreement requirements.
- Prepare briefing notes, summaries, and responses to inquiries related to agreement targets, outcomes, costing, and performance indicators.
- Support audits to assess data integrity, reporting compliance, and financial or program risks, tracking recommendations for improvement.
- Liaise with internal teams, including finance, data, and program staff, to support effective data governance and reporting processes.

Required education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in reporting, compliance, or performance management roles.
- Experience researching, analyzing, and validating program data and performance metrics.
- Experience preparing reports and briefing materials for senior management.
- Demonstrated experience managing compliance risks.
- Experience with financial analysis, budgeting processes, and financial accountability frameworks is an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Additional Assets
- Knowledge of early childhood education and the Early Childhood Services Act and regulations.
- Knowledge of government reporting processes.
- Experience with facilitating or participating in consultations with external stakeholders on accountability measures.
- Project management experience.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Wage:
Pay Band 5 - $67,600 - $94,406 annually.Work environment:
- Office location: Place 2000, remote work within New Brunswick is possible.
- Management non-unionized position
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30
- Evening and Saturday availability sometimes required
