COORDINATOR, CHEMICAL MANAGEMENT AND ASSURANCE (BAND 10)

DUTIES
Reporting to the Industrial Hygienist of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), the Coordinator, Chemical Management and Assurance, will be responsible for administration, oversight and continuous improvement of the University's chemical safety management and EHS assurance functions. Duties include: Administering, maintaining and overseeing the University's Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) including all related policies, manuals, procedures and monitoring functions; coordinating and leading the EHS Assurance Program, including the inspection and audit functions, and provide assurance of regulatory and HSMS compliance; managing the annual review and ongoing maintenance of the HSMS; coordinating and supporting the pan-university laboratory safety committee; providing expert advice, guidance and information to University stakeholders on chemical safety management and EHS assurance matters; coordinating and overseeing training programs to ensure the chemical safety , HSMS and EHS assurance training needs of the University community are met; managing significant and sensitive investigations related to chemical safety incidents, HSMS and EHS assurance, including analysis and reporting; administering the pan-University electronic chemical safety management system, including system maintenance and user support; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with Faculties, Departments and University Committees and external organizations such as regulatory agencies, industry associations and third party service providers; overseeing the financial management and procurement activities for chemical safety management pan-university; serving as an alternate for the Radiation Safety and Controlled Goods Officer, and other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (5-8 years) in occupational health and safety services including 3 - 5 experience in auditing and program development and implementation; completion of an undergraduate degree with major course work in science, engineering or a related field; an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. The successful applicant will demonstrate a proven ability to make decisions; ability to interact at all levels of the organization and across the business; ability to effectively and efficiently coordinate action as part of a health and safety team and have effective written, verbal and public communication skills.
SALARY $74,288 - $96,297 per annum (Management and Professional)
