JOB SUMMARY

The incumbent is a nurse who reports to the Manager of Oncology Nurse Navigators and the Mgr. Henri-Cormier Lodge. The nurse works in the community providing specialized guidance and support services to adults who are being screened for cancer, have just received a cancer diagnosis, are under active treatment or are receiving survivor care, palliative care or end-of-life care. The successful candidate helps patients and their families navigate the health care system and improves access to services and resources. They maintain close professional relations with various stakeholders involved in patient care, such as the oncology care team, primary care providers, specialized care providers and other community service providers. They also contribute to the creation of tools, the development of approaches to improve the quality of care, and organizational development.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Member in good standing of the Nurses Association of New Brunswick;
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing;
  • Five years of clinical experience, including two years of relevant clinical experience with patients who have undergone screening, received cancer diagnoses or cancer treatments, or received survivor care, palliative care or end-of-life care;
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate and maintenance of certification;
  • Successful completion of training related to the Mosaiq computer system;
  • Agreement to obtain certification in a setting selected by the Network, which may be located outside the province;
  • Ability to travel within the assigned zone;
  • Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
  • Good organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and effective work and time management skills;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Ability to teach and convey their knowledge;
  • Ability to work with external community organizations;
  • Keen interest in furthering knowledge and keeping it up to date as required;
  • Ease in building and maintaining good interpersonal relations;
  • Sound judgment, initiative, integrity, analytical thinking skills, creativity, flexibility and adaptability to change;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Physical ability to perform assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, Vitalité Health Network's management philosophy and organizational values;
  • Adherence to Vitalité Health Network's confidentiality rules.
