JOB SUMMARY :

Reporting to the Psychiatry Program Manager, the incumbent assesses complex situations involving health issues, psychiatric issues and neurocognitive disorders. They provide an in-depth analysis to guide teams, support workers and families in implementing an individualized care plan. They have advanced clinical skills and knowledge in geriatric psychiatry. The incumbent uses a consultation-liaison model to intervene in various settings (nursing homes and hospitals) in zone 1B. They supervise the various people involved in implementing the care plan and proposed approaches, and provide them with clinical support. They work in collaboration with the geriatric psychiatrists and help develop tools and approaches to improve the quality of care. They are also called upon to carry out clinical projects and collaborate on research projects. Given their expertise in geriatric psychiatry, they contribute to organizational development.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Member in good standing of the Nurses Association of New Brunswick;
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing;
  • Five years of clinical experience, including two years with psychiatric clients or one year with geriatric clients and one year with psychiatric clients or two years with geriatric clients;
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate and maintenance of certification;
  • Commitment to training in geriatric psychiatry;
  • Commitment to complete a clinical placement in a setting selected by the facility;
  • Access to a vehicle and valid driver's licence;
  • Ability to travel within the assigned zone;
  • Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
  • Good organizational skills, ability to prioritize and effective work and time management skills;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Ability to teach and transmit their knowledge;
  • Ability to work with external community organizations;
  • Keen interest in furthering own knowledge and keeping it up to date with requirements;
  • Ease in establishing and maintaining good interpersonal relationships;
  • Sound judgment, initiative, integrity, analytical thinking skills, creativity, flexibility and adaptability to change;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Physical ability to perform assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, Vitalité Health Network's management philosophy and organizational values;
  • Adherence to Vitalité Health Network's confidentiality rules.
