Job Overview Oakwood Terrace is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Summer Student to join our Recreation Department. This role is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in a long-term care facility while helping to improve the quality of life for our seniors through diverse and innovative programming.

Key Responsibilities

Holistic Program Delivery: Assist in providing recreational and leisure programs (physical, social, spiritual, emotional, and intellectual) to enhance resident health and well-being.

Health & Mobility: Promote healthy living by accompanying residents on outdoor walks and supporting physical activity.

Virtual Connectivity: Utilize social media and email platforms (Facebook, Skype, etc.) to bridge the gap between residents and their loved ones.

Innovation & Research: Research new and creative service delivery methods to further improve the quality of life for our residents.

Documentation: Maintain accurate weekly records of resident participation using our electronic charting system.

Safety & Compliance: Ensure all facility safety policies and procedures are strictly followed during activities.

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience: Previous experience working with seniors (specifically those with Dementia) or individuals with disabilities is a strong asset.

Programming Skills: Ability to lead and facilitate diverse leisure programs.

Digital Literacy: Strong computer skills and proficiency with social media tools.

Personal Attributes: A positive attitude and a collaborative, team-player mindset.

Eligibility: Per grant requirements, applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.

Employment Details

Wage: $18.50 per hour

Hours: 35 hours per week

Term: 14-week contract
