Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare structural designs and documentation for new low-rise buildings and renovations in residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural markets.

  • Investigate existing building structures and prepare assessment reports.

  • Lead projects through all phases, from initiation to completion.

  • Serve as the primary contact for clients and stakeholders, ensuring exceptional service.

  • Coordinate design efforts with internal and external disciplines to ensure optimal performance and constructability.

  • Provide technical mentorship to junior team members and review their work.

  • Review and seal structural drawings and calculations in compliance with relevant codes and standards.

  • Conduct site visits and construction reviews as needed, and prepare corresponding reports.

  • Monitor project budgets and assist with invoicing.

  • Prioritize team tasks to meet project milestones and deadlines.

  • Embody and promote company values in all decision-making and interactions.

Qualifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

  • Able to manage multiple projects in various stages simultaneously.

  • Flexible and responsive to changing priorities.

  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural Engineering from an accredited Canadian institution (or equivalent).

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or L.E.T. with PEO (candidates awaiting licensure may be considered).

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in building structural design.

  • Proficient in wood, masonry, steel, and reinforced concrete design.

  • Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code, provincial/municipal design guidelines, and relevant Canadian standards.

  • Skilled in analysis/design software (e.g., WoodWorks Sizer, MASS, S-Frame, S-Concrete, ETABS).

  • Proficient in MS Office, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD.
