Job Summary
This is not just a design role - it's a critical position that combines landscape estimating, CAD-based construction drawings, and the creation of field-ready job packages. Your work will directly influence project profitability, crew efficiency, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Proposals
Prepare detailed cost estimates for landscape construction projects
Break down project scopes into labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs
Use Landscape Management Network (LMN) to build job budgets
Assist the sales/design team with accurate and timely pricing to support project close rates
Construction Drawings & Job Packages
Produce construction-ready landscape plans using AutoCAD, SketchUp and Lumion
Create complete job packages for field crews including plan sets, takeoffs, work area breakdowns, and material specifications
Coordinate with project managers and foremen to ensure plans are understood and buildable
Internal Collaboration
Attend site visits to gather information and verify conditions
Participate in client and internal meetings as needed
Adjust estimates and construction plans based on client input and site requirements
Qualifications
Required:
3+ years of experience in landscape estimating and/or construction design
Strong proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD & SketchUp)
Ability to produce detailed construction drawings and crew-ready job packages
Familiarity with labor/equipment/material costing and project budgeting
Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred:
Experience with Landscape Management Network (LMN)
Knowledge of plants, hardscape materials, and construction techniques
Background in design-build or landscape construction environments
