Summary

The Flight Follower position ensures that all flights are planned, organized, supported and followed accurately and efficiently. This position is central to effective communication between flight crew, operations and management.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to the company's policies and procedures
  • Undertake flight alerting procedures and respond to requests by the pilot-in-command for information related to the flight. Such information shall include meteorological information and NOTAMS
  • Monitor the progress of each flight from its commencement to its termination, including any intermediate stops
  • Communicate with the pilot-in-command concerning airplane landings and departures from point of origin, en-route stops, and final destination
  • Notify the Communications Center ("OCC") of acceptance and ETA times for all flights
  • Ensure the pertinent software systems are kept updated in a timely manner including building flights, pairings; and monitoring alerts and currency
  • Utilizing flight planning software for issuing (adding, amending, deleting) company NOTAMS
  • File flight plans on behalf of flight crew members; and monitor weather alerts and advise flight crew accordingly
  • Liaise with Nav Canada with regard to updating and cancelling flight plans
  • Track crew and aircraft down-time and duty days
  • Activate Emergency Response Plan if required
  • Complete comprehensive daily Shift Report
  • Track response times and delays as well as on time performance
  • Accomplish other assigned duties, as requested.
Requirements
  • Post-Secondary Diploma
  • Proven organisational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Have initiative and ability to work autonomously
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills
  • The post holder must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages (MS Word and MS Excel are essential)
  • Available to work shift hours in a 24/7 operation
  • Background in aviation is essential
