As a leading edge IT consulting firm, Avocette Technologies is growing and has an exciting 12 month full time contract plus possible extension opportunity for a Intermediate Technology Architect to join our client in the greater Vancouver area remotely. We work with a wide range of clients including government and crown corporations, community services agencies, healthcare providers, and professional services organizations. Please note, both Avocette Technologies and our client will not cover relocation costs

Experience with various levels of Government (provincial and local), Crown Corporations and Healthcare would be considered highly desirable but not mandatory.

Specific Responsibilities and Deliverables:

• Architecting infrastructure solution for projects and documenting via an Architecture Design Document
• Establishing and maintaining technology standards and design frameworks that ensure the sustainability and maintainability of IT infrastructure and business and technology solutions
• Participating and guiding creating of detailed design and perspectives such as security, deployment etc.
• Drafting and evaluating requirements for RFP/RFI processes
• Creation and maintenance of architecture on a page diagrams
  

Mandatory Requirements:

• Networking and infrastructure background
• Experience in architecture definition, infrastructure specification, system sizing, production system operations.
• Understanding of infrastructure technologies such Servers, Storage, Virtualization, Cloud, and network & security fundamentals.
• Understanding of middleware technologies such as App Servers (Microsoft IIS, WebSphere), Network Devices (Load Balancers, Firewalls), and Data Replication
• Knowledge of architecting the Microsoft productivity stack, including Windows and Office365.
• Infrastructure design and architecture experience.
• 8 or more years of related experience.
• Experience with hybrid and private cloud architectures
• Understanding of IT security principles at all layers
• Able to communicate effectively with people of different technical skill levels, business and executives
• Experience working in an agile environment, familiarity with agile tools like Azure DevOps or Jira

Additional Requirements:

• Previous involvement in RFP/RFQ process, drafting and evaluation
