Portable Power Repair Technician

Description
Our client, an established Canadian equipment rental company, is seeking a Portable Power Repair Technician to support a safe, reliable and rental-ready fleet.
In this hands-on role, you will inspect, test, diagnose and repair generators and related electrical equipment. Responsibilities include on-site repairs, providing technical guidance to service technicians and helping customers operate equipment safely.

Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair portable power equipment, including diesel, gas and LP generators and associated electrical systems.
- Inspect and test equipment under actual operating conditions where possible.
- Ensure all equipment is rental-ready and meets quality and safety standards.
- Follow service checklists and procedures, referring to equipment manuals and schematics.
- Provide service technicians with guidance on required maintenance and repairs.
- Assist with decisions regarding equipment retirement.
- Explain equipment features, benefits, safe operating techniques and related accessories to customers.
- Provide consistent customer service and resolve concerns as they arise.
- Complete service paperwork and computer records accurately.
- Maintain inventory documentation within the rental management system.
- Follow safety procedures, PPE requirements and company policies, and report unsafe working conditions.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of generator repair or related experience.
- Valid Ontario G Class and current clean driver's abstract.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to read equipment manuals and schematics.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
- Heavy equipment trades certification is an asset.
- EGSA certification is an asset.
- Small engine repair experience is an asset.
- Health and safety training, including WHMIS, is an asset.
