A well-established Canadian equipment rental and construction services organization to recruit a Certified Small Engine Mechanic for their Toronto operation.

About the Role
As a Certified Small Engine Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining small-engine equipment, customer-owned tools, and rental fleet assets. You will work closely with the service and branch teams to support equipment uptime, customer service, and safe daily operations. This is a hands-on role suited for someone who is mechanically strong, detail-oriented, safety-focused, and comfortable working on a variety of equipment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Diagnose and repair defective small engines on rental equipment.
- Service and maintain small-engine-related fleet equipment.
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain customer-owned tools and equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on rental and customer equipment.
- Troubleshoot 2-stroke and 4-stroke gas engines.
- Service seasonal equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, chainsaws, pumps, compactors, and generators.
- Repair and maintain small electrical, battery-powered, and pneumatic tools.
- Support repairs on construction heaters, propane units, natural gas units, and related equipment.
- Load and unload customer rental equipment when required.
- Explain safe operating instructions to customers as needed.
- Support branch operations and assist with additional duties as assigned.
- Work with service, parts, operations, and branch teams to complete repairs efficiently.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Support apprentices or junior team members when required.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Small Engine Mechanic, Small Engine Technician, Power Equipment Technician, or similar role.
- Strong troubleshooting and repair skills on small engines, tools, and equipment.
- Experience working with 2-stroke and 4-stroke gas engines.
- Experience with small construction equipment, compact equipment, heaters, generators, pumps, and tools.
- Familiarity with equipment brands such as Stihl, Echo, Hilti, Husqvarna, Honda, Gorman-Rupp, Tsurumi, or similar.
- Experience with motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, snowmobiles, or powersports equipment would be considered an asset.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently with good time management and organization.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and support multiple priorities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required.
- Strong commitment to safe work practices and environmental responsibility.
- Ownership of personal tools required for the role.

- Experience with forklifts, aerial lifts, compact equipment, or construction rental equipment.
- Experience with propane or natural gas construction heaters.
- Experience training apprentices or junior mechanics.
- Flexibility to support on-call schedules or changing business demands.
- Technical understanding of construction or heavy equipment would be considered an asset.
