Why this role matters

As part of a small, collaborative HR team, the HR Advisor plays a key role in delivering hands-on, practical, credible HR support for both day-to-day people matters and broader HR initiatives that enable the business to perform at its best, while ensuring alignment with our culture, core values, and business priorities.

Reporting to the HR Manager, this role balances employee relations, HR program delivery, and data-informed insights, while contributing to continuous improvement across HR practices. Working closely with leaders and employees, this role helps translate people strategies into consistent, effective practices in a fast-paced environment.

This role is well-suited to an experienced HR professional who brings sound judgment and a pragmatic approach to partnering with the business to influence outcomes through practical HR advice.

Position type/schedule

Temporary, 18-month contract based at our Head Office located in the Campbell Heights Business District (19295 25 Ave, Surrey, BC). Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week. Primarily in-office for the first three months to support onboarding and training, followed by a hybrid work arrangement.

What to expect in the role

  • Partner with leaders to address employee relations, performance, and workplace issues, providing balanced advice that considers business impact, risk, and employee experience

  • Apply employment standards, human rights, and health & safety legislation with sound judgment, supporting consistent and defensible decision-making

  • Contribute to the design and delivery of HR initiatives across onboarding, talent development, engagement, and organizational change

  • Analyze workforce data and HR metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide insights that inform workforce planning and retention strategies

  • Lead HR projects and continuous improvement efforts that enhance the effectiveness, clarity and scalability of HR practices and systems

  • Collaborate with hiring managers on recruitment strategies and workforce planning decisions, and support the Talent Acquisition Specialist as required

  • Provide guidance on compensation, benefits, wellness, disability management, and return-to-work programs, ensuring alignment with company policy and legislation

  • Collaborate with internal teams and committees (e.g., DEI, Health & Safety, Business Continuity) to support a positive employee engagement and inclusive workplace culture

  • Ensure HR documentation and practices support audit readiness, consistency and sound governance

Ideal candidate profile

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience in a generalist or advisory role, with the ability to manage a broad range of HR responsibilities in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian employment standards, human rights and OH&S legislation, with applied employee relations experience

  • CPHR designation or actively working toward completion

  • Experience in a similar industry, eg. Industrial manufacturing, construction, or wholesale environments, is an asset

  • Experience leveraging HR systems (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, Applicant Tracking Systems, Learning Management Systems and strong Excel skills for data analysis, data interpretation, reporting, and dashboard creation

  • Comfortable using HR technology and AI tools, with an understanding of data governance, privacy, and ethical considerations

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and project leadership capabilities

  • Clear, confident communicator able to influence, build credibility and trust and navigate complex or sensitive situations

  • Highly organized, adaptable, and able to manage competing priorities effectively and have good judgment on when escalation is required

  • Experience supporting change initiatives and adapting to evolving business needs
