Who we are
The employees of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development establish programs and offer services that support parents and educators and encourage learners, aged 0 to 20, to achieve lasting and transferable learning that will serve them throughout their lives.

What You Will DoThis person will work closely with environmental organizations, community partners, ¿Services éducatifs francophones¿ staff, school districts, schools, and early learning and childcare facilities to expand environmental and climate change education throughout New Brunswick's Francophone educational communities.

They will promote the development of a sustainable culture of environmental citizenship by supporting educator professional development, awareness and engagement from preschool through Grade 12. The objective is to ensure that, by 2027, 10 to 20 percent of educators at every school have received training related to climate change and environmental citizenship education.

The successful candidate will also play a key role in the structured implementation of the mentorship plan in environmental citizenship education by engaging ambassador teams, environmental partners and various education sector stakeholders. They will also support the updating of curricula to incorporate more concepts related to the environment, climate change and environmental citizenship.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the implementation of initiatives related to the education plan and priorities of the Francophone education system in the area of environmental citizenship education.
• Plan and offer workshops, training and professional development opportunities on the environment and climate change for educators and students.
• Work with learning specialists responsible for curriculum development to incorporate the concepts of environmental education and environmental citizenship into curricula and instructional resources.
• Partner with school districts, schools, early learning and childcare facilities, and community organizations to support promising projects related to the environment and climate change.
• Coordinate and support the deployment of the mentorship plan in environmental citizenship education.
• Identify, develop, promote and distribute relevant instructional resources tailored to different educational contexts.
• Celebrate and share inspiring teaching practices implemented in Francophone schools and early learning and childcare facilities in New Brunswick in relation to the environmental and climate engagement guide.
• Contribute to the development of a culture of collaboration, innovation and environmental citizenship engagement within the Francophone education system.

Your attitude, skills, and interests are just as important as your educational background. We are seeking individuals with diverse experiences who bring a combination of the following qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

• Master's degree in education and a minimum of six (6) years' teaching experience in an inclusive K-12 public education system.
• In-depth knowledge of instructional approaches related to environmental citizenship education and climate change.
• Ability to support, train and engage educators and students.
• Aptitude for building and maintaining partnerships with community and environmental organizations.
• Experience developing instructional resources and implementing educational initiatives.
• Sound understanding of New Brunswick's Francophone education system.

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken proficiency in French is required. Please state your language proficiency level.

Salary
Pay Band 7- $94,146 - $113,906 annually.

Work Environment

• Office location: Place 2000, 250 King Street, Fredericton, NB.
• A remote work arrangement may be considered within New Brunswick.
• Travel throughout the province will be required.
• Teamwork is strongly encouraged.
• Standard work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
