The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is seeking a knowledgeable, collaborative, and community-focused individual to fill the role of Early Years Family Navigator to help promote and raise awareness of early childhood programs and services within the district. The successful candidate will represent the Anglophone School District-North (ASD-N) on committees and working groups, participate in community events to promote early childhood initiatives, educate caregivers about available programs and resources, and facilitate access to a wide range of services that support families in fostering their children's learning and well-being. This role also involves supporting families participating in prototype programs designed to enhance early learning and development, while strengthening community connections and ensuring families receive the information and assistance they need within the ASD-N boundaries.
The Role:
Reporting to the Director of Early Childhood Services and working within the district early childhood teams in the Anglophone School District-North, the Early Years Family Navigator will support access to early learning and childcare for children as part of the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Plan.
As the Early Years Family Navigator, you will:
- Create and maintain a directory of public and community services and programs that support children's well being and development.
- Respond to inquiries and refer families to early years programs for their preschool aged children.
- Develop and maintain relationships with early learning and childcare services, partner agencies, organizations, and other government departments to facilitate families' access to resources that support child development and well being.
- Collaborate in the development and promotion of communication tools (website, social media content, etc.).
- Participate in the development and administration of feedback surveys for parents and community partners.
- Collect and report data according to key process indicators and planned performance measures.
- Communicate with eligible families and potential early learning and childcare facilities to promote participation in the prototype and secure available spaces.
- Assist families in choosing an NB Designated Early Learning and Childcare (NBELC) facility that is best able to meet the needs of the child and family.
- Work with families to identify and remove all barriers to participation in the prototype.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Required Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree (Arts, Education, or related field) and a minimum of (3) three years of related experience (An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered).
- Knowledge of local and/or provincial programs and services that support families with young children.
- You possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- You are an innovative thinker with the ability to problem-solve creatively and to think on your feet.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.
Nice to have:
- Knowledge and/or prior experience in the field of early childhood programs and services.
- Knowledge of computer software or platforms to store directory.

Wage:
Pay Band 3 - $53,742 - $75,114 annually.
Work environment:
- Management non-unionized position.
- Office location: ASD-N Miramichi.
- Valid driving license is required. (Traveling is necessary throughout the district).
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30.
- Work schedule may include occasional weekend shifts, based on operational requirements.
- Your Team: A team of up to 20 employees.
