We are currently looking to fill the position of Senior Financial Analyst. As a member of the Finance team supporting Information Technology Capital Accounting, the Senior Financial Analyst, will be responsible for monitoring the financial results for their technology capital projects and for providing reliable and timely information and analysis for strategic and regulatory initiatives, and financial modelling.
Key elements of this role include:
- Providing capital accounting analysis and oversight at a project and consolidated basis for the monthly, quarterly and yearly financial close processes;
- Working with project managers and business leaders to prepare and revise budgets and forecasts;
- Assisting in the preparation and review of regulatory filings provided to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board and responding to information requests;
- Provide ongoing financial modeling and analysis expertise and supporting business partners to evaluate and analyze capital investment opportunities and business activities;
- Provide oversight & accounting support to ensure invoices are paid and purchase orders are processed on a timely basis;
- Assisting the senior leadership team to meet financial goals and identify cost savings initiatives;
- Performing project and operational tasks with excellent overall quality, while being able to prioritize work to meet deadlines;
- Developing and implementing process improvement and efficiency projects, coordinating with the broader team and impacted stakeholders to implement;
- Process development and documentation; and
- Maintaining relationships with business partners and stakeholders.

As the ideal candidate you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and possess or are working towards the desired skills and experience listed below:
- You hold a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Commerce, with a focus in finance or accounting, combined with a minimum of five years experience in a related role. A professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) or equivalent would be considered an asset. A related combination of experience and education will be considered;
- You are proficient in the Microsoft suite of programs, particularly Microsoft Excel, and are comfortable using accounting software. A working knowledge of Power Plan or Oracle Financials would be considered an asset.
- You possess solid oral and written communication skills and have demonstrated success in effectively presenting and communicating financial ideas and concepts at a variety of levels.
- You have strong organizational skills, are details-oriented, and thrive in a deadline driven, team-focused environment.
- You are a leader of people with a demonstrated ability to create a climate of commitment and participation among teams. An experienced leader would be an asset.
- You work well both independently and in a team environment.
