We are currently looking to fill the position of Plant Manager to join our Power Production team. Reporting to the Senior Director, Power Production, you will have primary responsibility to develop and implement business plans to efficiently manage the Point Tupper Generating Station and the Port Hawkesbury Biomass Plant, while supporting overall corporate objectives.

As Plant Manager you will be responsible for the following:
- Ensure appropriate processes are implemented to fulfill responsibilities to safety, the environment, NSPI Code of Conduct, financial commitments and employee development.
- Cultivate a high-performance culture by empowering and developing talented team members to drive innovative solutions and exceed strategic objectives of Nova Scotia Power.
- Ensure alignment of individual, team, and plant goals with corporate goals.
- Be accountable for ISO 14001 equivalent environmental performance processes and initiatives.
- Demonstrate ongoing personal commitment to the Capabilities Development Process.
- Establish and maintain effective safety programs to ensure an injury free workplace.
- Direct and coordinate the onsite work force in the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the power plant in order to meet established goals and schedules, including routine and unscheduled maintenance, emergency repairs, and retrofits.
- Develop and execute annual budgets and business plans.
- Assist staff in achieving all plant performance targets, including safety, environmental compliance, high unit performance and low unit production cost.
- Monitor plant performance and investigate and correct any abnormal conditions.
- Oversee the implementation and administration of personnel management programs, including staffing, succession planning, performance evaluation, salary review, and training and development at the plant.
- Ensure proper working environment by maintaining discipline, morale and employee relations.
- Establish and maintain positive relations and communications with civic and community groups, customers, and government.
- Administer the Shared Services contract with Port Hawkesbury Paper and manage that key business relationship.

To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and skills listed below:
Education & Experience:
A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, a 1st Class Power Engineer certification or an Engineering Technology Diploma is required.
10+ years' experience in progressively more responsible management roles and leading teams in a production environment is required.
A Maintenance Journeyman with demonstrated leadership skills may also be considered for this role.
The incumbent must have relevant experience gained in power generation, heavy industry, and/or heavy manufacturing businesses.
Experience in the application of predictive maintenance, a multi-skilled workforce, energy efficiency, cost management, capital planning and emission technologies would be considered an asset.
Skills & Additional Requirements:
- The individual must be proficient in risk management and able to systematically analyze complex decisions, be able to execute plans effectively, and to lead and motivate a high-performance team.
- The successful applicant must have a proven record of effective people management, including employee development, succession planning, performance management, involvement and recognition.
- A demonstrated ability to implement business plans and proven skills in change management are essential.

- A focus on environmental issues, customer service, human resources, employee development, and community relations are also required.
