Placement Description:
The Student Employment Counsellor will support a team of Employment Counsellors in delivering client-focused employment services. This role involves hands-on, in-person interaction with clients and community partners, as well as administrative and presentation support.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Assisting clients with resume development and job search strategies
- Supporting appointment scheduling and front-line client interactions
- Preparing documentation and maintaining records
- Assisting with presentations and workshops
- Providing administrative support to the employment counselling team
- Supporting engagement with community partners
Students will gain exposure to employment counselling practices, community engagement, and public service operations while developing professional confidence, communication skills, and workplace readiness. This role offers an opportunity for skills development with career-focused trainings, self-development workshops, and personalized mentorship.
Need to have:
- Language requirement: English or Bilingual (English and French)
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in education, sociology, psychology, business, or other social science or related field
- Strong client service orientation
- Effective interactive communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Nice to have:
- Experience in customer service or public-facing roles
- Experience supporting presentations or workshops
- Interest in employment counselling or community-based services
