What you will do:
As the Assistant Park Manager, the successful candidate will be supporting the Park Manager with the following:
- Overseeing daily park operations, including supervising, scheduling, and training staff
- Planning and delivering tourism, education, and recreational programs
- Managing facilities, including security, retail, rentals, and maintenance
- Contributing to business development and infrastructure projects
- Enforcing park policies, safety standards, and environmental regulations
Additional responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in preparing budgets, monitoring spending, and allocating resources effectively
- Supporting inventory management, financial reporting, and statistical data analysis
- Contributing to the development and implementation of safety and risk management strategies
- Supporting environmental conservation, habitat restoration, and sustainability projects
- Addressing visitor questions, feedback, and complaints
Who you are:
You're a motivated and dynamic individual who enjoys taking on challenges and exceeding expectations. You have knowledge and experience managing parks, tourism, or similar operations.
Your skills and strengths include:
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to balance multiple responsibilities under tight deadlines
- Effective communication and collaboration with team members, community groups, and stakeholders
- Experience in operations, human resources, communications, and financial planning
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Required Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, environmental management, natural resource management, parks and recreation or a related field and a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, including two (2) years of supervisory experience and financial management OR a post-secondary diploma in business administration, environmental management, natural resource management, parks and recreation or a related field and a minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, including two (2) years of supervisory experience and financial management
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License as issued by the Province of New Brunswick
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Nice to have:
- Experience in community services, event planning and sport coordination
- Experience in developing and managing current and future programming
- Knowledge of environmental conversation practices
- First Aid and CPR Certification

Wage:
Pay Band 4 - $2,249.00 to $3,145.00 biweekly
Work environment:
- Office location: Mount Carleton Provincial Park
- Working shifts and variable hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
