Who we are:
Join the Parks NB family! As part of the Parks NB Adventure Team, you will hit the road and work in some of the most beautiful places that New Brunswick has to offer. You will also have access to a supportive team, meaningful and exciting work experience, during our busy summer season. If you are a nature lover and like the outdoors, imagine being able to travel throughout the world's highest tides, warmest saltwater beaches, tallest mountains and pristine forests, all in a workday!
What you will do:
Working closely with the Parks NB team members, the successful candidates will, among other things, assist with the planning and execution of several events taking place in New Brunswick Provincial Parks. The second duty will be guiding guests through the challenges of first-time camping by providing experiential learning opportunities for participants.
Students on the Parks NB Adventure Team are expected to accomplish the following tasks:
- Assisting with setting up and tearing down furniture and equipment at various events in our Provincial Parks
- Driving the Parks NB Adventure vehicles, ensuring they are always cleaned and fueled, recording kilometers and reporting any issues or damages
- Engaging with participants while offering onsite activation and various services during events
- Tracking inventory of promotional items and assisting with proper use of camping gear
- Assisting with social media development and capturing content on the day of the events
- Collaborating with event wrap up and debriefing with the Events and Parks team members
- Developing educational content such as engaging workshops, activities, website, and social media content
- Leading and participating in outdoor activities, delivering educational programs and public outreach initiatives
- Working with diverse audiences, in both official languages (this includes people who are learning English or French as well as youth and young families)
- Preparing and submitting travel expenses, receipts, and timesheets based on provincial government policies
- Using judgment, critical thinking, and people skills
- Performing other tasks as required
Who you are:
You are someone who enjoys the outdoors, rain or shine it's a great time to be outside. You possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, are self-motivated and can think on your feet. You are a people person. You have a respect for safety.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Required Competencies:
- Student in the current academic year, attending a post-secondary institution full-time in the fall
- Legally eligible to work in Canada and a resident of the Province of New Brunswick
- Valid class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick
- Enjoyment in working outdoors, in any weather conditions
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Valid first aid certificate from a recognized provider on the first day of work
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.
Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration. Please ensure that preferred language for assessment is identified on your resume.
Nice to have:
- Experience in customer service or hospitality
- Ability to connect with people, understand their needs and adapt teaching methods to suit them
- General knowledge and experience in the outdoors, whether through camping, gardening, bird watching, academic interest, etc.

Wage:
Based on GNB student rates of pay
Work environment:
- Parks NB Warehouse location: 1215 Hanwell Road, Fredericton
- Working within the Provincial Parks: Fundy Trail, Herring Cove, Hopewell Rocks, Mactaquac, Mount Carleton, Murray Beach, New River Beach, North Lake, Parlee Beach, République and Sugarloaf
- Average of 40 hours per week with variable and extended hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays
- *Please note this position requires significant and frequent travel throughout the province, as well as work outside of regular work hours - Standard hours of work may be altered to accommodate these requirements*
