The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Sr Specialist Auditor to join our Internal Audit team in Toronto. The role is a permanent hybrid position. This posting is for an existing position vacancy. As a Sr Specialist Auditor you will contribute to maintaining and enhancing the levels of control and governance of processes related to engineering, maintenance, geotechnics, and safety by performing a technical assessment of the effectiveness and efficiency of operations, the integrity of operational information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, contracts, and internal standards, as well as by evaluating the preservation and protection of assets, people, and the environment across the various segments of the Vale Group, based on a risk?focused approach.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Recommend improvements to the development and revision of technical standards by identifying insufficient or inadequate risk control measures, supporting risk management and mitigation processes.
- Plan and execute audits in accordance with the established annual and multi?year audit plans, defining required activities and resources in compliance with internal procedures and industry best practices.
- Ensure compliance with the audit program, applying appropriate audit approaches aligned with legal requirements, applicable national and international standards, Internal Audit Policy, and ethical principles.
- Communicate and present audit results to different management levels and governance bodies within the Vale Group, including Boards, Audit Committees, Risk Committees, and Executive Leadership.
- Maintain effective audit communication and documentation, ensuring proper recordkeeping, information sharing with audit teams and the three lines of defense, while preserving required confidentiality.
- Ensure clear, objective, and reliable audit conclusions in reports, and, when required, investigate or coordinate whistleblower allegations related to fraud or internal control deficiencies, as well as contribute to internal audit projects and advisory activities without compromising audit independence.

- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, or Automation Engineering.
- 7 to 12 years of experience as a field engineer.
