The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an, Specialist, Internal Communications to join our communications Department.

This is a 12 month Fixed-term position.

As the Specialist, Internal Communications, you'll be responsible for designing and implementing Vale Base Metals' internal communications activities within the corporate communications strategy, with objective of establishing the company's new corporate identity and value proposition among VBM workforce.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Works collaboratively with multiple internal clients to identify, prioritize, design and resource communication activities aligned to corporate strategy, brand, goals & objectives.
  • Builds relationships with key internal clients across the company to support various initiatives by understanding their needs and developing internal communications plans to achieve their objectives.
  • Supports the Communications Team to design and execute a new global brand campaign in 2026, focused but not limited to internal activity targeting workforce audience through a variety of multimedia channels and creative assets.
  • In partnership with Human Resources, develops and executes employer branding, employee value proposition and recruitment marketing strategies to bring modern marketing techniques to attract top talent.
  • In partnership with other corporate functions (e.g. IT, Finance, etc), develop and executive communications and change management programs to deliver against corporate objectives.
  • Produce a variety of communications content in multiple formats for multiple channels in English (and oversee Portuguese translation).
  • Provides communications advice and counsel to support change management initiatives (e.g. HR, IT, Finance, etc).
  • Leads communications support for business-as-usual activities (e.g. weekly employee newsletter, quarterly town halls, etc).
  • Support Corporate Communication team in planning, organizing, and executing public events promoted by Vale Base Metals (inaugurations, launches of social programs, etc.), through the organization, planning, and definition of communication actions.
  • Gather and analyze information needed for annual communication planning.

About You

Education:

  • Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or Journalism

Experience:

  • 5-7 years' experience in communications, marketing, public relations or related field

Skills:

  • Exceptional writing & editing skills; familiarity with Canadian Press Style Guide would be an asset.
  • Creative multimedia storytelling skills – visual, infographics, audio, digital+.
  • Exceptional English language skills (written/oral); Portuguese language skills would be an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to manage shifting priorities.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships horizontally across functions and vertically within departments, across geographies.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively as part of a team, and autonomously to objectives on individual initiatives.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines and to work well in complex organization.
  • Ability to maintain even keel under pressure and manage tight and changing deadlines.
  • Familiarity with tools such as, but not limited to:
    • Email/newsletter platforms (e.g. Mail Chimp, Bananatag / Staffbase, Constant Contact, etc.)
    • SharePoint or other cloud-based file management systems
    • Multimedia design platforms (video, audio, visual storytelling, animation, etc.)
    • MS Office (e.g. Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. Photoshop, Premiere, etc) or related design/graphics programs
    • Artificial Intelligence programs (e.g. CoPilot, Claude, Grok, etc.)
