What you will do
The Department of Justice and Public Safety is seeking qualified individuals to fill the position of Training and Exercise Officers for its Emergency Measures Organization (EMO). Reporting to the Training and Exercise Manager, the primary role of the Training and Exercise Officer is to design, develop, deliver, evaluate, and improve emergency management training and exercises for NBEMO and the Provincial Emergency Action Committee. They also assist other provincial departments and agencies, local government, first responders, and jurisdictional partners to plan, conduct, control and evaluate their training and exercises for the effective implementation of their emergency measures plans. Training and Exercise Officers also support NBEMO Planning and Operations during activations for security and emergency incidents and events.

NBEMO would also value a person who is proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to public safety, with a genuine interest in helping communities become more resilient and better prepared for emergencies.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Need to have:
- University Degree in an applicable field and 4 years' experience in planning, leading organizations in the field of Emergency Management
or
- 2 years of post-secondary education with 6 years of planning, leading organizations in the field of Emergency Management
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal history clearance and security clearance check.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English and spoken competence in French is required. Please state your language capability.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The following operational requirements are also required:
- Travel within the Province
- Possession of a valid class 5 driver's license
- Assist NBEMO Planning and Operations staff during an activation
Nice to Have (their asset qualifications)
- Training and/or experience at a senior level in emergency response in areas of policing, firefighting, delivery of ambulance, Red Cross, health emergency management or the military
Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

Wage
$2,249.00 to $3,145.00 (Pay Band 4) based on education and experience
Work environment
- Office layout: individual private office located at Victoria Health Centre, 65 Brunswick Street, Fredericton NB.
- Your Team: (4 employees) with the capacity to increase during emergency operations
- Flexible work environment, combining office and remote functions.
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15 - 4:30, however individual may be required to work additional non-standard hours during an emergency operation
