Job Details:
The Senior Director, Operations and Engagement provides strategic leadership and operational oversight across Build Nova Scotia's key service areas. This includes maintenance, marine operations, property management, information technology systems operating outside the provincial network, events and programming and occupational health and safety.
The Senior Director also ensures efficient and responsive internal office operations through the Corporate Office Coordinator and provides strategic direction to the Director of Operations, ensuring alignment between corporate and divisional priorities.
This role ensures that Build Nova Scotia's operations and engagement activities are safe, efficient, and aligned with corporate goals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and community impact.
Provide senior leadership and vision for Build Nova Scotia's operations, ensuring alignment of maintenance, marine, property, IT, events, and engagement functions with corporate strategy.
Translate the organization's mandate into integrated operational frameworks that support innovation, fiscal discipline, and sustainable growth through documented process that promote safe spaces and collaboration.
Direct enterprise-wide service delivery standards, ensuring consistency, quality, and accountability across property management, maintenance, and public-facing programs.
Establish performance frameworks and continuous improvement mechanisms that drive efficiency, reliability, and responsiveness across operations through key performance indicators (KPIs) and tracking mechanisms.
Provide senior level oversight of Build Nova Scotia's Occupational Health & Safety program, ensuring a proactive safety culture and full legislative compliance across all sites and activities.
Oversee operational risk governance-identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational and reputational risks through robust safety, emergency, and business continuity planning.
Oversee investment prioritization, capital planning, and asset lifecycle strategies that align with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives within the marine, maintenance, IT and Events functions.
Establish strong governance and reporting structures that ensure transparency, compliance, and informed decision-making across all operational areas.
May perform other related duties as assigned.
· Undergraduate degree in business, finance, real estate management or related field or equivalent experience.
· 10+ years in an operations leadership role or similar position with at least 5 years in a senior management position.
· Exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills with experience dealing with both internal and public stakeholders.
· Demonstrated leadership implementing and managing occupational health and safety programs.
· Experience in managing large real estate portfolios that include government and private industry tenants.
· Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams in operations, IT, and public engagement.
· Proven stakeholder management, communications, and negotiation skills.
· Strong financial acumen, organizational skills, and commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
· Demonstrated proactive self-starter, ability to identify process improvement opportunities and follow through with improvement initiatives from identification to completion.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and meet tight and often conflicting deadlines.
· Experience providing oversight on a large marine, maintenance, and/or property management portfolio is an asset.
· Must have advanced technical skills including proficiency with MS Office and previous operations management software programs.
