As a key member of the Digital Technology team, the Senior Solution Architect will lead the design and delivery of enterprise-level solutions that support and enhance utility operations, while focusing on grid modernization. This role is instrumental in advancing digital transformation initiatives, modernizing core infrastructure, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards all while aligning systems with operational efficiency goals and evolving customer expectations. The Senior Solution Architect serves as a strategic bridge between Enterprise and Technical Architecture, responsible for articulating technology vision, refining solution designs, and ensuring their successful implementation in alignment with business priorities and organizational growth.
Key functions include but are not limited to:
• Architecture Design - Create high level and detailed solution architectures for enterprise applications, cloud platforms, data systems, and integrations
• Stakeholder Engagement - Work with business leaders, project managers, and developers to ensure solutions meet business needs.
• Technology Leadership - Evaluate and recommend technologies, tools, and platforms.
• Governance & Standards - Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture standards, security policies, and best practices.
Our ideal teammate will have:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Eight years experience in IT or software development including five years in at least two of the following:
 o Technical or infrastructure architecture
 o Network management
 o Application development
 o Middleware
 o Database management
 o Cloud development
• Good understanding of strategic and emerging technology trends and the practical application of existing and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models
Combined with:
• Certifications (TOGAF, AWS/Azure Solution Architect, ITIL)
• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks relevant to critical infrastructure such as NIST, CSF, NERC CIP and CIS controls and ideally also hold certifications
• Excellent communication and leadership skills for cross-functional collaboration
• Understanding and knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies (e.g. waterfall, agile, DevOps)
• Excellent analytical, planning, organizational, and technical skills
Experience with Smart Grid technologies would be considered an asset.
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
