The Role
As the QA Tester, you will be responsible for testing Masitek's suite of sensor products, mobile apps, and client web portal to ensure performance, reliability, and exceptional user experience. In addition to manual testing, you will play a key role in developing, maintaining, and taking ownership (with guidance from senior staff) of automated test systems for mobile and web applications as well as hardware. You'll work closely with our product development, software, and hardware engineering teams to identify issues, verify fixes, and help deliver robust solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and scripts for hardware sensors, mobile applications (iOS/Android), and web-based client portals.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and performance testing across multiple platforms.
• Conduct hands-on testing of physical sensor devices to validate data accuracy, connectivity, and firmware updates.
• Automate testing of user interactions and workflows in mobile and web applications using automated test frameworks.
• Take ownership, with input and mentorship from senior staff, of hardware test automation system used in production based on test fixure and Raspberry Pi 5.
• Develop and support test systems using Raspberry Pi or similar platforms to interface with hardware via USB, serial port, BLE, I?2;C, and SPI, as well as to perform temperature and voltage measurements from test points.
• Identify, document, and track bugs or inconsistencies using issue tracking tools (e.g.: Jira).
• Collaborate with developers and team to troubleshoot and validate fixes.
• Participate in release testing cycles and quality reviews before customer deployments.
• Maintain and enhance testing documentation, checklists, and processes.
• Contribute ideas for continuous improvement of QA practices and tools.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in software or hardware QA testing (experience with both is ideal).
• Strong understanding of software development and QA methodologies.
• Experience testing web portals, APIs, and mobile applications.
• Familiarity with Bluetooth, IoT, or sensor-based technologies is an asset.
• Familiarity with automated test frameworks (e.g. Selenium, Appium, Playwright)
• Experience with hardware test automation.
• Experience with Jira or other defect tracking tools.
• Ability to clearly document test results and communicate issues effectively.
• Detail-oriented, analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
• Experience with automated testing tools is an asset but not required.
