Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our nursing team. Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Shift Supervisor, the LPN is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the unit while delivering excellent resident care.
This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, colleagues, and other health care professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide supervision and guidance to Continuing Care Assistants (CCAs) and Long Term Care Assistants (LTCAs)
- Deliver resident care, including physical, emotional, and spiritual needs
- Administer medications, including injections, venipuncture, and treatments, in accordance with physician orders and facility policy
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and interdisciplinary team members
- Assist in staffing and scheduling, including orienting and supporting new staff
- Participate in care planning, assessment, and ongoing review of resident care needs
- Maintain accurate documentation and records
- Provide outreach services to affiliated facilities (Fundy Villa and Orchard View Apartments) as assigned
- Respond effectively to emergencies, demonstrating critical thinking and sound clinical judgment
Qualifications
- Current license with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Nova Scotia (CLPNNS)
- Ability to work full scope of LPN practice
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively and delegate appropriately
- Compassionate, conscientious, and resident-focused
- Skilled in critical thinking, clinical judgment, and emergency response
