Information Resource Specialist (6 month contract)

People Plus Consulting Limited, an innovative and dynamic company with over 30 years of experience in providing job search assistance to residents of Halifax, is currently seeking to fill a position of Information Resource Specialist (6 month contract) at the Nova Scotia Works - Job Junction location.

Start Date: As soon of possible

Working cohesively within a team of career practitioners, the candidate will be responsible for delivering mainly in-house with some outreach services to our clients and community partners. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, they will be expected to:

  • Greet clients, and direct them to the appropriate services and resources (in person, by telephone, or via email) to help them maximize their job search success
  • Validate eligibility criteria to access services
  • Book and manage client appointments, answer client questions/concerns
  • Gather and document initial client information and input data into the LaMPSS database
  • Provide administrative support for workshop delivery i.e. typing resumes, and cover letters, creating job cards, accurately and in a timely manner
  • Support clients with one-on-one guidance, instruction, feedback, and support in an objective and professional manner
  • Assist in the drafting and editing of job search materials, such as resumes, cover letters, and networking cards
  • Send out workshop evaluations and specialist evaluations as needed
  • Conduct a follow up via phone and email at the 6 month and 12-month mark after clients have completed case management services
  • Provide analytics support to management, including compilation of data, data entry and initial analysis and summary
  • Maintain, in strict confidence, individual client information and records

Job Requirements

  • University degree, or combination of training and experience in the fields of Employment, Social Sciences or Human Resources (or equivalent combination of experience and skills)
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly in MS Office, with reliable typing speed and accuracy
  • Related experience in the field of career development considered an asset
  • Experienced delivering services and support in a client-centered work environment
  • Excellent grasp of the English language (Both written and verbal); preference will be given to candidates fluent (both written and verbal) in another language
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest standard of service delivery

Conditions of Employment

  • Centre's core hours 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday
  • Flexible schedule: including a weekly work from home day when possible
  • Start date will be as soon as possible
  • Salary range: $44,000 - $47,500 annually (prorated per term)
