INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM OFFICER

MI International

Marine Institute
(1 Year contractual Position)

Duties

Reporting to the Director of MI International, the successful applicant will support implementation of MI/MUN strategic and internationalization plans, through collaboration with MI schools, centres and departments. Specific to this position will be responsibility for managing MI's global student/young professional placement program (International Youth Internship Program). Other responsibilities will include supporting the development and management of international initiatives including institutional partnerships, international projects, outbound mobility initiatives, and global scholarship programs all of which build towards the internationalization goals. Duties include conducting market analysis, project development research, proposal writing to Canadian and international funders (including Government and membership agencies, multilateral donors, international foundations); managing projects and initiatives; facilitating partnership agreements; supporting international work/research placements; coordinating technical engagements on international projects; drafting narrative and financial reports; contributing to MI's international strategic planning process; supporting other initiatives focused on internationalization at the Marine Institute/MUN; and performing other related duties as required. Some travel within Canada and/or internationally will be required based on specific work assignments and strategic priorities.

Qualifications

Considerable international experience (3+ years) in a developed and/or developing country context; graduation with a master's degree preferably with major course work involving an international focus (i.e., international project management, internationalization of post-secondary, political or social sciences, environment, international development, etc.); an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered; demonstrated competence in international project management and proposal preparation; excellent knowledge of current software suites; and sound cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills are required. The successful applicant must be energetic, curious and be a motivated individual who knows how to take initiative; works well independently and wants to become an integral part of the MI International team. A demonstrated knowledge of donor funding agencies (i.e., Global Affairs Canada, International Financial Institutions, international foundations); post-secondary mobility programming; conversant in contemporary global issues; and knowledge of global trends in post-secondary education, would be considered assets. In addition to English, the ability to communicate effectively in languages of regions in which the Marine Institute is active would also be considered an asset.

SALARY: $77,284 - $90,663 per annum (NAPE Local 7850)
