Job Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Director ? Provincial Medical Services, the Director ? Quality and Credentials will work with the leadership team in Medical Services to provide leadership, vision and strategic direction to the Medical Services Team of NL Health Services.
The Director will be responsible for overseeing strategic operations related to the Quality division of the Provincial Medical Services department, including developing and implementing quality and risk management processes and policies and evaluation through continuous quality improvement. The Director will also lead the credentialing services for all physicians at NL Health Services, including all policies, processes and quality audits/reviews related to credentials.
The Director will work closely with senior management and physician leadership to establish and maintain positive working relationships and ensure that policies and processes align with the strategic direction of NL Health Services. The Director will also be responsible for building strong partnerships both provincially and nationally with specific linkages to the NLMA, Department of Health and Community Services, the College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Faculty of Medicine, as well as championing and incorporating patient and family centered care within the Medical Services Program.
Job Qualifications:
Education:
? A bachelor's degree in business, health-related discipline or other related field is required.
? A master?s degree is preferred.
Experience:
? Minimum of five years? recent progressive management experience working in a health care management role is required.
? Experience in a management role within medical services is required.
? Experience in credentialling and quality management is an asset.
? Significant recent experience in managing projects of a complex nature is required.
? Recent experience with process improvement and continuous quality improvement (LEAN) is an asset.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
? In-depth knowledge of the field of medical services.
? Thorough knowledge of healthcare systems, and familiarity with the bylaws respecting Medical Staff, the Physician Memorandum of Agreement, and organizational policies and procedures.
? Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in quality/process improvement and change management methodologies.
? Proven senior management and leadership abilities, and excellent communication, interpersonal and teambuilding skills.
? Demonstrated highly developed negotiation, time management, problem-solving, Human Resource Management and decision-making skills.
