Salary:

Title: Youth Mentors

Reports to: Program Director

Based at: Head Office, Community

Employment: Full time, Part Time (Minimum 18+ hrs/wk)

Pay Range: Wage determined based on education and experience

3-month probation and review

Start Date: Ongoing

Description

As a member of one of SCP's mentorship based programs, you will be mentoring and supporting youth involved with SCP at different levels. Your shifts will include planning and implementing 1:1 activities and programming from 4 main categories: (a) building healthy relationships, (b) education, (c) recreation, and (d) life skills. Needs will vary between youth. A strong case management focus is required to meet the deliverables of outcome-based contracts that work towards building independence and positive support systems.


What you bring to the table!

  • An unrestricted Saskatchewan driver's license
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance
  • Knowledge and experience working with
    • An Indigenous population
    • Vulnerable populations with challenging behaviours
    • Youth with varying abilities, cognitive impairments, developmental disabilities & delays, FASD
    • Youth currently or previously having experienced exploitation
    • Youth struggling with substance misuse or addictions
    • Youth currently or previously gang affiliated
    • Youth centred philosophy, trauma informed care, & strength based approaches
  • Community & programming development
  • Life Skill programming design & delivery
  • Administration, documentation, and databases
  • Preference will be given to applicants with
    • Conflict Resolution, Crisis Intervention, & DPVS
    • ASIST, Mental Health First Aid, & Suicide Prevention Training
    • CPR/First-Aid (B), Water Safety, & Food Safe
