WHAT THE JOB LOOKS LIKE:

The Senior Clinical Counsellor / Family Support Worker is a combined role providing clinical counselling to clients, direct family support to clients and clinical support to staff. Clinical Counsellor responsibilities include all aspects of caseload management including utilizing clinically accepted procedures to assess, develop and implement clinical counselling services and providing consultation and support to other FVCDC team members involved with the client. Family Support Worker responsibilities include supporting families to understand and recognize their child's unique needs and their role in parenting their child with diverse abilities. Family Support Workers also collaborate with the FVCDC team and work to connect families with community resources and agencies and promote collaboration with these agencies to benefit families. As the senior member of the Clinical Counselling team, this position will provide clinical support to clinical counselling staff, other family services staff and other FVCDC staff, as requested.

Travel Requirements: This position requires to travel within select areas of the Fraser Valley region. The ideal candidate must possess a Class 5 driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle. Reimbursement for travel time and mileage will be provided for all work-related travel.

Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or related field
  • Current registration with BCACC or equivalent
  • A minimum of five years work experience as a Clinical Counsellor
  • Minimum two years experience providing clinical supervision

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to foster professional multi-disciplinary teamwork
  • Demonstrated effective written, listening and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving and goal setting skills.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with clients with diverse abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development
  • Experience working from a trauma informed lens
  • Understanding of culturally sensitive practices and Indigenous Cultural Safety
