Mechanical BMG Supervisor – Finishing Area (Maintenance Division)
Location: Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Schedule: 8-hour day shifts (9 hours with 1-hour lunch)
On-Call: 1 week every 4–5 weeks
Bonuses:
- Individual Performance Bonus (IPB): 0–9% (average ~5%)

Role Summary:
The Mechanical BMG Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing maintenance operations within the Finishing area of the client's manufacturing facility in Sault Ste. Marie. This position focuses on preventative maintenance, mechanical reliability, and NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) maintenance exposure, ensuring optimal performance and longevity of industrial equipment.
The ideal candidate combines hands-on mechanical expertise, strong leadership abilities, and the capacity to manage maintenance schedules, root cause analysis (RCA), and long-term reliability improvements in a highly technical, industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate mechanical maintenance activities for the Finishing area.
- Lead a team of mechanical trades (millwrights) in daily operations, preventative maintenance, and repair work.
- Execute maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and enhance equipment reliability.
- Plan and coordinate shutdowns, inspections, and mechanical projects.
- Oversee work orders, spare parts, and maintenance documentation.
- Conduct root cause analyses (RCA) to resolve recurring mechanical issues.
- Ensure full compliance with safety regulations and internal maintenance standards.
- Collaborate closely with production, reliability, and engineering teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis and best practices.
- Oversee mechanical systems such as hydraulics, gearboxes, motors, bearings, conveyors, and pumps.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in a heavy industrial, steel, or manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on expertise in hydraulic systems, motors, large gearboxes, and mechanical assemblies.
- Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance planning and execution.
- Experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and shutdown coordination.
- Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering Technology or valid 433A Industrial Millwright Certificate.
- Knowledge of NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) processes is an asset.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with SAP or CMMS systems preferred.
