Electrical BMG Supervisor – Hot Rolling Mill (Maintenance Division)

Location: Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Schedule: 8-hour day shifts (9 hours with 1-hour lunch)

On-Call: 1 week every 4–5 weeks

Bonuses:

  • IPB: 0–9% (average ~5%)
  • CPB: Determined annually
  • Overtime: Eligible, per ESA guidelines

Role Summary:

The Electrical BMG Supervisor oversees electrical maintenance within the Hot Rolling Mill — a high-demand, fast-paced production environment. This role is ideal for an experienced 442A Industrial Electrician or Electrical/Automation professional who excels in PLC troubleshooting, automation systems, and team leadership.

The position requires hands-on involvement with Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Mitsubishi systems, as well as expertise in electrical schematics, VFDs, sensors, and safety systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise electrical maintenance operations in the Hot Rolling Mill area.
  • Lead and mentor electricians in daily maintenance, troubleshooting, and automation activities.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting of PLC, HMI, and automation systems.
  • Coordinate maintenance during shutdowns, urgent repairs, and on-call rotations.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring faults and implement long-term solutions.
  • Review and interpret electrical drawings, control schematics, and system diagrams.
  • Manage CMMS activities, work orders, and maintenance records.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, plant safety protocols, and maintenance best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, reliability, and operations.
  • Drive technical excellence and reliability improvement across electrical systems.

Qualifications:

  • Valid 442A Industrial Electrician license or post-secondary Electrical/Automation Engineering background.
  • 5+ years of electrical maintenance experience in industrial or steel manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC systems (Allen Bradley preferred; Siemens/Mitsubishi acceptable).
  • Experience with VFDs, HMI interfaces, sensors, and safety systems.
  • Familiarity with automation and industrial control systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead maintenance teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and RCA skills.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Maximo, or other CMMS software preferred.
