This posting is for an Administrative Program Assistant position at the Family Medicine Clinic located in the Health Sciences Centre, Janeway Hostel.
DUTIES
Reporting to the Clinic Administrator, Discipline of Family Medicine, the successful applicant will be responsible for performing complex and difficult clerical work and exercising considerable independent judgement in a fully computerized medical office environment in an academic clinical teaching setting. Duties include maintaining schedules for multiple professionals including clinical faculty, residents and medical students; using an electronic medical records system and booking medical appointments; greeting and rooming patients; arranging specialist appointments for clinic patients; liaising with other health care professionals, coordinating with the academic unit of the teaching program regarding academic scheduling components; typing letters, memoranda, reports and forms; entering and retrieval of data from computerized systems; scanning of patient documentation to an electronic medical records system, billing and invoicing for clinical services (MCP. MPA and locum billing) for three Family Medicine Clinics; photocopying, scanning and faxing various documents as appropriate; filing various documents and materials; reconciliation of user tasks in the Electronic Medical Record system (EMR); restocking exam rooms; assisting the Clinic Administrator with various administrative tasks; and performing other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (3-5 years) in general clerical work; completion of a two-year college program in the area of medical office administration or similar; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. The ideal candidate will have the ability to pay strict attention to detail, possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work independently as well as be a contributing member of a team in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience working in a medical clinic, experience with medical billings and medical office procedures, strong knowledge of computers, and skills in Microsoft Office are required.
SALARY $53,729 - $63,029 per annum (CUPE Local 1615)
