Job Description - Traffic Control (Flagger)

Location: Kingston, Ontario
Shift/Hours: Monday to Friday, some weekends included. Can be early morning starts; shifts may run up to 12 hours
Pay Rate: $21.00 per hour

Position Overview:

This role supports daily traffic control operations to keep workers, motorists and pedestrians safe on

active work sites. Responsibilities will include interpreting traffic management plans, performing basic

traffic control set up and maintaining a safety awareness.

Responsibilities:

• Perform basic traffic control set - ups ensuring that they meet MTO Book 7 requirements to ensure the safety of all stakeholders impacted by the site (crew members, motorists, pedestrians, etc.)
• Protect your peers, construction workers, the motoring public, cyclists & pedestrians by regulating traffic flow.
• Interpret traffic management plans to determine correct placement of required signage and channeling devices
• Perform multiple traffic control set-ups ensuring that they meet traffic plan requirements and the safety of all stakeholders impacted by the site (crew members, motorists, pedestrians, etc.)
• To stop traffic whenever required by the progress of work or to keep traffic moving at reduced speeds to avoid tie-ups and delays.
• Maintain a safety awareness and work in compliance with applicable health and safety regulations and policies

Work Conditions:

• Outdoor position in varying weather
• Standing for extended periods and working around live traffic
• Use of required personal protective equipment at all times
