Hours: 75 Hours Biweekly (8 hours; Days)

Salary: CGHP43 (CAD46.39 - CAD57.26 per hour) Plus applicable Labrador Allowance.

About the Role
The Social Worker III is a specialized clinical position that provides mental health, addictions, and concurrent treatment services to
individuals and/or family members. This position will have a .50 allocation for intake and triage of referrals to the community Mental
Health and Addictions Program in the Labrador Grenfell Zone. The Social Worker III will also act as the Clinical Lead for the Mental
Health and Addictions team who are providing Doorways Counseling services in designated schools and provide .50 of clinical
services as required. Regular travel within the zone to support service delivery is required.

This position exercises a significant degree of independent clinical judgment. The Social Worker utilizes a variety of skills including
clinical counseling, case management, assessment and critical thinking skills. The social worker will work and liaise collaboratively
with the schools, families and other community agencies in the region.

Qualifications:
Successful Completion of a Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited program with the MSW field
placement in a clinical practice is required.
Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Social Workers is required.
Five (5) of the past seven (7) years of recent related mental health and addiction experience is required.
Experience working with Indigenous populations & extensive knowledge of community-based services, organizations and
resources.
Advanced clinical assessment skills, advanced intervention skills, and therapy experience with individuals, couples,
groups, and families, clinical practice evaluation, and research design methodology.
Demonstrated advanced clinical skills in assessment, case management principles, interviewing and crisis intervention
techniques, social work programming and delivery methods, analytical/critical thinking, organizational, leadership,
supervision and oral/written communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrated knowledge of best Practice Standards, as it relates to assessment, treatment, planning, counselling and
evaluation.
Demonstrated independence, initiative and ability to work with others.
A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 driver’s license.

A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.

Duties: (Included but not limited to)
Serve as the first point of contact for individuals and families seeking mental health & addictions services within the
Labrador Grenfell Zone.
Support the intake process by performing initial screening and triage of referrals and facilitating connections to service for
individuals in alignment with the Provincial Stepped Care Model.
Provide orientation, training and consultation to Mental Health and Addictions staff and act as a senior clinical resource.
Assist in the development and implementation of a community crisis response team for the Labrador Grenfell Zone. The
Social Worker III will act as the lead in planning, collaborating with community partners and in the provision of support in
communities within the Labrador Grenfell Zone.
Develop and implement a wide range of quality improvement activities such program evaluation, compiling accurate
statistics reports and service recommendations.
