Salary: NS30 (CAD41.99 - CAD52.26 per hour) Plus applicable Labrador Allowance.

About the Role
Reporting to the Manager of Mental Health & Addictions, the primary purpose of this position is to provide mental health & addiction services to individuals and families. Services include screening, assessment, intervention, community outreach, promotion, and prevention activities. The Psychiatric RN II will provide discharge support and care coordination by serving as a key liaison among clients, families, healthcare providers, and community partners.

Qualifications:
Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required.
Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL).
Completion of a post-basic course or CNA certification in Psychiatric Nursing is an asset.
Current BCLS for Health Care Providers Certification is required.
Minimum of two (2) years' experience within the last four (4) in Mental Health is required.
Significant and current knowledge in utilizing community mental health resources and psychiatric approaches, such as supportive counselling and crisis and suicide intervention.
Demonstrated knowledge of professional mental health nursing practices; community resource utilization; foundations of practice in the areas of mental health, including related issues and impacts; and related theories, techniques and intervention.
Experience working with Indigenous populations.
This position exercises a significant degree of independent clinical judgment;
The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory Certificate of Conduct.
Valid driver’s license.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.

Duties: (Included but not limited to)
Provide mental health & addiction screening, assessment and intervention from a holistic view.
Provide mental health and addictions support to other rural and remote sites.
Participate in clinical case conferencing activities and community mental health research and quality assurance.
Conduct mental health assessments, obtain collateral information from nursing/medical staff, family members, etc and coordinate with other disciplines and available community resources to provide follow-up care, to enhance service to clients.
Provide clinical consultation to other clinic team members and to individuals who are seeking or requiring service. These clinical services include screening, comprehensive assessments, treatment and intervention in the context of an interdisciplinary team, etc.
The successful candidate will be part of the community crisis response team and will travel regularly within the zone to support service delivery.
Other related duties as required, travel may be required, may be required to work alone
