The Opportunity

Company, Department: Nova Scotia Power, Human Resources

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia

Type of Employment: Full-time, Regular

Closing Date: September 30th, 2026

At Nova Scotia Power, the company's greatest source of energy has always been its people. The organization works in every community across the province, from Yarmouth to Wreck Cove, Cape Breton. Every day, their teams are committed to providing safe, reliable electricity so that customers and communities can thrive.

Are you a forward-thinking HR leader who can connect business strategy with the people and capabilities needed to bring it to life? Nova Scotia Power is seeking a Director, Talent & Workforce Strategy to lead an integrated approach to workforce planning, talent acquisition, talent and leadership development, succession planning, diversity, equity and inclusion, and organizational effectiveness. Reporting to the Senior Director, Human Resources, this is a highly influential role with the opportunity to shape Nova Scotia Power's workforce strategy during a pivotal period of transformation.

Key elements of this role include:

As the Director, Talent & Workforce Strategy, you will develop and lead a forward-looking workforce strategy aligned with Nova Scotia Power's long-term business priorities. Working closely with senior leaders and Emera's Corporate HR team, you will anticipate future workforce and capability needs, strengthen talent and succession pathways, and create opportunities to develop and reskill employees as roles and technologies evolve. Using workforce analytics and market intelligence, you will translate emerging needs into practical strategies while building partnerships with educational institutions, industry associations, and talent networks.

The ideal candidate is a strategic and visionary HR leader who is equally comfortable seeing the big picture and translating it into action. You are an exceptional relationship builder with strong business acumen, sound judgement, and the ability to build trust and influence across a complex organization. You bring 10 or more years of progressive HR or talent management experience, including demonstrated success leading enterprise-wide talent and workforce initiatives and partnering with executive leadership. A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field is required. A CPHR designation and change management certification are considered assets.

Nova Scotia Power is looking for a curious, collaborative, and future focused leader who understands the important connection between people and business strategy. This is an opportunity to help build the workforce needed to power Nova Scotia's future while contributing to an organization whose work has a meaningful impact on communities across the province every day.
