The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Analytical Assistant co-op student to join our Analytical Services team in Mississauga.

The role is on-site and a 12 month fixed term position starting in January 2027. This posting is for an existing position vacancy.

As an Analytical Assistant student, you will have the opportunity to further your development, gain practical knowledge and experience working closely within the Analytical Services team. The team provides specialized chemical analysis and testing services that support research initiatives, process improvement projects, and operational decision-making across Vale Base Metals operations.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Weigh and fuse solid samples
  • Perform acid dissolution on a variety of samples
  • Dilute aqueous samples prior to analysis
  • Gain hands-on experience operating advanced plasma-based spectrometers
  • Prepare calibration standards
  • Maintain ISO documentation

About You

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Chemistry or a three-year technical diploma in a related field from a recognized college.

Skills:

  • Solid verbal, written and analytical communication skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Proven time management and organization skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a proven safety record are essential.
