Are you interested in technology, problem-solving, and ensuring systems work exactly as intended?

As a Quality Assurance Co-op Student with our ERP Product Support Technology team, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting technology solutions that help power critical business processes across Nova Scotia Power.

During the Winter 2027 Co-op term, you'll work alongside experienced technology professionals, business stakeholders, and project teams to help test, validate, and improve enterprise systems before they are released. You'll learn how quality assurance plays a key role in delivering reliable technology solutions while gaining exposure to large-scale business transformation projects, enterprise applications, and industry best practices.

This opportunity is ideal for students interested in Quality Assurance, Business Analysis, Project Delivery, Enterprise Applications, or Technology Consulting. If you're naturally curious, enjoy analyzing problems, and are passionate about delivering high-quality results, this role will provide valuable real-world experience in a dynamic technology environment.

What you'll do:

  • Support testing and validation activities to ensure technology solutions meet business and quality requirements.
  • Assist with analyzing business processes, requirements, and system functionality.
  • Create and maintain test scenarios, test cases, and supporting documentation.
  • Execute functional, integration, and user-focused testing activities and document results.
  • Investigate issues, identify root causes, and support defect resolution efforts.
  • Assist with data analysis, reporting, and data governance activities.
  • Support ongoing projects by creating reports, preparing materials, and testing technology solutions.
  • Collaborate with project teams, business users, and technical resources to support project delivery.
  • Participate in team meetings, presentations, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Contribute to process improvements, documentation initiatives, and quality management activities.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support project and team objectives.

Who you are:

We're looking for a motivated student who enjoys understanding how systems work, finding solutions to complex problems, and ensuring high-quality outcomes. You will be a strong candidate if you:

  • Are currently enrolled in a Master's program in Information Technology, Applied Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Have an understanding of software development and testing concepts, including functional, integration, regression, or user acceptance testing.
  • Have experience with test management or defect tracking tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, ALM, Octane, or similar platforms (considered an asset).
  • Have exposure to business process documentation, requirements management, or enterprise system implementations (considered an asset).
  • Have strong analytical and critical thinking skills and enjoy solving problems.
  • Can interpret business requirements and translate them into clear test scenarios and test cases.
  • Have excellent attention to detail and take pride in producing accurate, reliable work.
  • Are organized and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Learn new technologies, systems, and business processes quickly.
  • Demonstrate initiative, curiosity, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

What we offer:

  • Networking & Growth: Join a network of current and former co-op students and build connections through events such as keynote speaker series, coffee chats, volunteer opportunities, and social activities.
  • Comprehensive Onboarding: Start your term with confidence through our engaging onboarding program, which includes facilitated group orientation sessions, a Student Handbook, and a Technology Guide designed to set you up for success from day one.
  • Community Engagement & Giving Back: Get involved through mentoring opportunities, employee resource groups, volunteer programs, fundraising-matching initiatives, and various committees that support the communities where we live and work.
  • Meaningful Project Experience: Contribute to technology initiatives that support business transformation, system quality, and enterprise application delivery across Nova Scotia Power.
  • Hands-On Learning & Development: Gain practical experience in quality assurance, software testing, business process validation, requirements analysis, defect management, and project delivery methodologies.
  • Technology & Enterprise Systems Exposure: Build experience working with enterprise applications, testing tools, reporting solutions, and large-scale technology projects while learning from experienced professionals and industry experts.
