CRYOGENICS SUPERVISOR (BAND LEVEL 8)

DUTIES
The Cryogenics Supervisor will exercise supervision over technical staff in the Cryogenics Plant, under the general direction of the Electronics Division Manager and in accordance with established policies and procedures. The incumbent will supervise, train, and mentor junior staff as required. The successful applicant will be accountable for carrying out and coordinating functions of the plant to ensure a highly reliable supply of cryogens to users on campus. Duties include performing daily checks and equipment inspections; dispensing of large volumes of liquid nitrogen per schedule and dispensing small amounts on demand; scheduling, planning runs, operating the plant, and dispensing of liquid helium on dates requested by clients; scheduling, carrying out, and logging equipment maintenance per manufacturer recommendations; ensuring safety procedures are adhered to; inspecting and maintaining tanks; establishing and maintaining relationships with clients; ensuring the plant is run in such a way as to minimize helium losses and control operating costs; ordering supplies and parts; entering work orders in MP2; ensuring all cryogens dispensed are recorded, signed for, and accurately billed; adhering to TDG requirements; tracking liquid nitrogen production and reporting and investigating reductions promptly; and maintaining appropriate records for the ISO 9001 management system. The successful candidate will also perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (5-7 years) at a skilled level in the operation and maintenance of a cryogenics plant or similar facility; successful completion of an approved Refrigeration Mechanic or Millwright journeyperson program is required. The successful candidate will be expected to have knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions involved in the work. Demonstrated coaching, collaboration, and leadership skills are essential, as is the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and clients.
SALARY $65,079 - $76,340 per annum (CUPE Local 1615)
