Engineering Student, Network & Solutions Processes
As the Engineering Student, Network & Solutions Processes, you’ll have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting real-world telecommunications engineering teams. This role is ideal for a student who is curious about how complex networks are designed, built, and delivered, and who enjoys understanding how work gets done and identifying opportunities to make it even better.
Working alongside engineers and cross-functional teams, you'll help document, analyze, and improve the processes used to design and implement modern internet and access technologies. Along the way, you'll build valuable experience in engineering environments while developing practical skills in process improvement, collaboration, and technical documentation.
What You'll Learn
During your co-op term, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting engineering teams and learn how telecommunications networks and services are designed and delivered. You'll have the opportunity to:
- Learn how engineering teams collaborate across design, implementation, and operations
- Develop skills in process mapping, workflow improvement, and technical documentation
- Gain experience translating complex information into clear, practical processes
- Build professional communication and collaboration skills
- Work with industry tools, including Microsoft Visio, to create process maps and workflow diagrams
What You'll Be Doing
With mentorship from experienced engineers, you’ll:
- Document and map current engineering design and implementation processes
- Analyze workflows used by our Solutions Engineering and Access Engineering teams
- Meet with team members across the business to understand how work gets done and identify opportunities for improvement
- Help design and document improved processes and workflows
- Create process maps, presentations, and procedural documentation
- Support teams as new or updated processes are implemented
What We're Looking For
You're an Engineering student who is curious, analytical, and interested in understanding how things work and how they can be improved. We're looking for someone who:
- Is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Computer, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Coursework or an interest in telecommunications, networking, or process improvement is an asset
- Enjoys problem-solving, analysis, and continuous improvement
- Communicates clearly and is comfortable asking questions and working with a variety of people
- Can work independently while contributing as part of a team
- Has strong attention to detail and enjoys organizing information and creating clear documentation
The following experience is an asset, but not required:
- Exposure through coursework, projects, or personal interest to technologies such as DOCSIS, PON, network switching, wireless networking, IPTV, SIP/Unified Communications, or DWDM
