Join our Finance & Accounting team where your work goes beyond the numbers - you'll have the unique opportunity to be the primary financial partner to several small corporate entities, with the chance to shape processes, optimize outcomes, and directly contribute to the financial success of our owners.
Our Finance & Accounting team is seeking a highly skilled, self-directed Senior Bookkeeper to join them in a full-time permanent opportunity. This position can be based in any of our seven office locations in Atlantic Canada.
As a Senior Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for:
- Maintain accounting records for various ownership entities (professional corporations, service corporations and family trusts);
- Provide client service to lawyers - respond to enquiries on a variety of matters;
- Prepare financial statements related to various ownership entities;
- Process and manage personal income payments and transfers, corporate tax instalments, expense reimbursements and payments to external parties;
- Prepare T-slips and HST returns for various ownership entities;
- Liaise between lawyers, and various internal and external parties;
- Prepare invoices and periodic/reoccurring government remittances;
- Reconcile multiple financial and tax reports;
- Prepare and reconcile corporate year-ends in advance of annual tax filings by external accountants;
- Prepare and execute internal corporate documents and resolutions; and,
- Additional related administrative tasks as required.
The successful candidate will possess the following skill set:
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;
- 5 (five) to 8+ (eight plus) years of progressive bookkeeping or corporate accounting experience;
- Advanced proficiency in Sage 50;
- Strong experience with payroll processing and reporting, HST compliance, and personal income reporting, including the preparation and filing of T3, T4/T4A, and T5 slips;
- Working knowledge of Canadian corporate tax, payroll, and HST regulations;
- Experience with investment bookkeeping and income reporting;
- Experience in a professional services or partnership environment;
- Highly independent and self-motivated, with the ability to take initiative and work effectively with limited day-to-day supervision;
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, with the confidence to manage full-cycle bookkeeping and related reporting responsibilities;
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to appropriately manage multiple priorities, meet recurring and time-sensitive filing deadlines;
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- High level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential financial information;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work professionally with owners, advisors, and external contacts;
- Accountable, organized, detail-oriented, and quality-driven; and,
- Adept in technology and a desire to continuously improve and innovate.
