Job Summary
This Clinical Occupational Therapist II provides responsible professional and clinical leadership/supervisory occupational therapy work for the Medicine Program at the HSC site. The clinical Occupational Therapist II applies clinical knowledge and skills to plan, implement, co-ordinate, evaluate and oversee occupational therapy services. Work includes client management, input into program and policy development, project development, quality initiatives, participating in evidence-based practice, education, and community capacity building. The Clinical OT II is clinical lead/supervisory over other occupational therapy professional and support personnel.

This position provides clinical occupational therapy services as a member of an interprofessional team for the Medicine Program at the HSC site, with a primary role as OT lead for stroke team referrals. The Clinical occupational Therapist II works collaboratively with the interprofessional team in the assessment, treatment, discharge planning and education to Medicine inpatients. The Clinical Occupational Therapist II is responsible for representing occupational therapy to the Medicine division and assisting the Clinical Occupational Therapist III with co-ordination of Occupational Therapy service delivery at the HSC site. The Occupational Therapist receives clinical support and mentoring from the Occupational Therapist III for Acute Care - HSC Site.

The position also assists with coverage of services in other areas when therapists are on leave. The OT will be responsible to precept Occupational Therapy students and offer other clinical education experience to students within Eastern Health.

This position reports to the Division Manager, Neurology & Endocrinology, Medicine Program and maintains accountability to the Occupational Therapy Professional Practice Consultant for integrity and professional practice issues.

Job Qualifications
Graduate of a school or program of occupational therapy recognized by the board.
Current licensure with the Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Therapy Board.
A minimum of three years of experience within the last five working as a Clinical Occupational Therapist in adult physical medicine including one year of experience in adult neurological conditions including Stroke is required.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, with interprofessional team members, patients/residents/clients and their families in a one-to-one and group environment.
Demonstrated effective written communication skills required for client documentation, report writing and professional communications
Demonstrated ability to effectively translate and communicate knowledge in the specialized area of occupational therapy practice to others.
Proven supervisory and leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and train Clinical Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapist Support Workers and students.
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an interprofessional team.
Proven ability to assume professional responsibility for safe, ethical and effective practice.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
