The Opportunity

Our Emera Corporate Learning Specialist will be responsible for supporting the implementation and administration of learning programs that enhance employee skills, performance and career growth at Emera. This includes learning content development, administrative support for Emera's Learning Academy, curating e-learning content, learning evaluation analysis and reporting.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Learning, the Corporate Learning Specialist will work alongside the Talent Management team members to support multiple teams across the Emera Group of Companies.

The Learning Specialist will contribute to the success of our people by supporting quality and relevant learning initiatives that improve the employee experience along with providing the technical and digital support and expertise for learning programs and systems.

Key Elements of this role include:

  • Develop, and maintain instructor-led, virtual, blended, and self-paced learning programs;
  • Conduct learning needs analyses to identify skill gaps and recommend appropriate development solutions;
  • Partner with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to create or advise on relevant and effective learning content;
  • Facilitate and or co-facilitate training workshops in a live virtual or live environment;
  • Develop and revise engaging learning materials, including participant guides, job aids, e-learning modules and assessments;
  • Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) to administer and report on training programs or sessions;
  • Measure learning effectiveness through evaluations, assessments, and performance metrics;
  • Complete learning administration such as vendor invoicing, reporting, data collection, training coordination and planning.

What Skills will make you successful:

  • Post secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Adult Education or a related discipline along with 5-8+ years of Learning and Development, business and/or adult education experience;
  • Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint;
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills;
  • Demonstrated experience with design development tools such as Articulate, Canva;
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, resolve issues/problems, prioritize workload, and be flexible to meet and adapt to changes in organizational priorities;
  • Demonstrated experience acting as a key support resource and connecting with other functional areas of the business, building cross-functional relationships, as needed;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including the ability to respond professionally, courteously, and in a clear manner;
  • Research skills and ability to identify/communicate/present trends and recommendations;
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and virtual learning platforms.
