The Opportunity:
We are currently looking for a Senior Treasury Analyst to join our Corporate Treasury team on a permanent basis.
As Emera's Senior Treasury Analyst, you will play a key role in a team of Treasury professionals who manage complex, high value transactions including debt and equity issuance, Foreign Exchange (FX) and hedging transactions. You will interact with many of the business units within Emera and external counterparties including Financial Institutions. Accountabilities:
As a key member of Emera's Corporate Treasury team, you will be responsible for, ensuring treasury transactions are appropriately verified and recorded, prepare budget and forecasts, prepare month end journal reports and documentation supporting Treasury activities. This role will require the Sr. Treasury Analyst to be the liaison between Treasury and other internal business units, and to be the point of contact for external counterparties for settlement of Financial Transactions. The Sr. Treasury Analyst will also work with Investor Services in the administration of Emera's Common Share Purchase Plan.
More specifically, in this role you will:
- Prepare Treasury's interest and debt budgets and forecasts
- Preparing required month-end journal entries/ ensuring Treasury activity is recorded accurately in accounting records
- Responsible for managing quarterly compliance certifications.
- Coordinating payment of debt service and dividend payments for several Emera companies
- Respond to inquiries from business units, Corporate Accounting, and Internal/External Audit and;
- Ensure internal controls over financial reporting for which you are responsible to support, perform, review or sign off are executed in accordance with the Company's SOX program
- Prepare variance analysis for financing costs of various business units;
- Compiling information on cash requirements, including foreign currency needs, from various sources within the company and updating cash planning spreadsheets and Integrity
- Transferring cash between banks and accounts as required for cash balancing purposes
- Confirming details of Treasury transactions with counterparties for settlement of deals
- Verifying and settling transactions in Integrity to ensure accurate recording of transaction information
- Preparing financial reports, account reconciliations and accounting information to aid in the reporting of Treasury transactions
- Assisting in the compilation of Month End, Quarter End, and Year End reporting information
- Liaising with internal business units to ensure completeness of financial information collected
- Working with external financial partners, including banks and Transfer Agent to ensure timely settlement of financial transactions, and to research and resolve any discrepancies
Skills, Capabilities, Education and Experience:
As the ideal candidate you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and possess or are working towards the desired skills and experience listed below:
- You have a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline combined with a minimum of five (5) years' relatable experience in an accounting or financial role people. Previous leadership experience would be considered an asset;
- You have obtained or are working on a professional accounting or financial designation (CPA, CTP, CFA) or an advanced business related degree;
- Proficient in MS Office Suite software, and advanced capabilities in working with Excel;
- Sound knowledge of budgeting and model building;
- Knowledge of Oracle and Kyriba software would be an asset;
- Strong relationship building skills and the ability to work well with people at various levels within and outside of the organization are key;
