We are currently hiring for two Permit Associate positions within our ED Permit Centre team. As a Permit Associate, you will play a key role in supporting the electrical permitting and inspection process, helping to ensure electrical work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
As a primary point of contact for Nova Scotia's electrical contractor network, you will collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to process permits, coordinate inspections, maintain accurate records, and provide exceptional customer service. This position is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, critical thinking, and strong customer relationships are essential to success.
You may be required to work additional hours as business needs dictate, including supporting emergency and storm-response operations within a 24-hour, 7-day-per-week environment.

As a Permit Associate, you will:
- Process and manage electrical permit applications from contractors and customers.
- Navigate systems and applications related to permitting and inspections.
- Create, modify, cancel, renew, and refund permits, including managing expired and outstanding permits.
- Maintain accurate contractor, customer, and permit records in internal systems.
- Coordinate and schedule electrical inspections and communicate associated fees and requirements.
- Respond to contractor and customer inquiries by phone, delivering professional and timely support.
- Generate, maintain, and distribute operational reports.
- Support the coordination of emergency electrical work and troubleshooting requests.
- Prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy and service excellence.
- Ensure compliance with Nova Scotia Power policies, procedures, and Occupational Health and Safety standards.

Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided to help successful candidates build the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the role.To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and skills listed below:
- Minimum Grade 12 education; post-secondary education is considered an asset.
- 2-3 years of customer service and/or administrative experience.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess information and make informed decisions.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Experience with CIS and/or Maximo software is considered a strong asset.
- Experience with wiring permits, electrical inspections, utility operations, or related processes is considered an asset.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
